Here's where I live, marked with the yellow arrow on these photos (select thumbnails to see full size photos).
Nice, huh? You can also see a photo tour of my neighbourhood.
I live right near a park, as shown on this map. This is in an inner suburb of Sydney, just 4 kilometres
from the Central Business District (marked "CITY"). The Bradfield Highway is the road across the Sydney Harbour Bridge,
and the usual route I take if I need to get into the city.
This map shows the location of some other interesting places. Sydney University at bottom left is where I spent a large fraction of my life. The Sydney Cricket Ground at bottom right is where I go to see cricket matches each year. The new Fox film studios are in the grey area under the words "Cricket Ground". The Sydney Opera House is also marked. The view of this and the Harbour from the bridge is quite spectacular and I never tire of it.
This map only covers a fraction of what most people call the inner suburbs of Sydney.
Zooming out a little, this map covers pretty much all the "inner suburbs"
of the city. New features here include Bondi and Manly, with their
famous beaches. The 2000 Olympic site is in the green area just to
the left of Concord, and extends over the edge of the map.
This big map shows all of Sydney and its suburbs. New features
visible here include Botany Bay, and Sydney Airport with its runways
extending south into the bay, and the big National Parks which
surround Sydney. The dam at Warragamba holds back Lake Burragorang,
which supplies Sydney's water.
As you can see from the big picture, I live pretty close to the
heart of the city. Fortunately, however, that greenery near my home on
the first map is untouched bushland, with a creek and trees which
haven't been disturbed by development.
